Cyclamen hederifolium is an excellent ground-cover plant for rock gardens and woodland gardens. It will self-seed freely to form carpets of foliage and flowers from autumn to spring before dying back in summer. The heart-shaped dark green leaves, which emerge after the flowers, are patterned with silver, creating a striking marbled effect. In the autumn, this wonderful little plant produces dainty pink flowers with reflexed petals. Height: 10cm (4″). Spread: 15cm (6″).
Growing Information
Grow Cyclamen in a well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter, in partial or dappled shade. Work some organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Cyclamen grow best in the dappled shade of trees and shrubs, which helps avoid excessive summer moisture.
