- Tiny star shaped flowers turning from green to red rise from upright stems amongst pretty rosettes of basil green foliage veined with burgundy red
- Flowers bloom from June to August, followed by dark brown fruit
- A native perennial which thrives in a sunny spot but can also deal with a little shade
- Plant at the edges of a pond, in a bog or water garden or a wet border
- Mainly prized for its foliage – remove the flower heads to preserve the red leaf veining
