Fagus Sylvatica
Admired for its magnificent foliage, the ever-popular beech hedging (Fagus sylvatica) is bursting with fluttery leaves that have a delicate golden-green colour that gradually brightens before turning a rich copper colour in autumn.
Ideal for hedging or privacy screens, Fagus sylvatica can be grown to almost any height required, maintaining good density and tidy form. Clip once or twice a year to keep it looking at its best. Plants form a thick, interwoven hedge that is ideal for security as well as looking decorative. Fagus sylvatica tends to hold most of its dead leaves over winter – helping to keep privacy to a maximum – shedding them the following spring as new growth appears. Height: 12m (39′). Spread: 8m (26′).
