Hornbeam, native to the UK, is very commonly seen, boasting glossy green foliage that is veined, turning yellow in autumn months. Suitable for pollarding or coppicing, Carpinus betulus is a majestic specimen tree which has a fluted, twisted trunk that is intriguing and attractive. Leaves drop in winter. Height: 12m (39′). Growing Information
Prior to planting Hornbeam , incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and water well to settle the soil.
