Reminiscent of the well-loved snowdrop. Leucojum has up to 8 delicate white flowers per stem, white bell-shaped flowers with green tips. Known as the summer snowflake flowers are lightly scented. Flowers May. Height 30-40cm; spread 1-10cm.
Growing Information
Plant summer snowflake bulbs in autumn. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade in reliably moist, well drained soil. Leucojum aestivum prefers a soil that is rich in organic matter so add some well rotted manure or compost to the soil. Plant summer snowflake bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”), with the pointed end facing upwards. For natural looking drifts, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
