Fiery red, orange and golden foliage as it first emerges in spring. Acer palmatum ‘Katsura’ produces deeply-divided palmate foliage that transforms itself from a pale yellow to deep orange as the foliage matures. In midsummer the leaves become a rich shade of green before turning bright orange for a blast of special autumnal colour. A magnificent Japanese Maple that will make an outstanding specimen for a sheltered spot in sun to dappled shade.
For optimal foliage display, keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells; prune sparingly—just trim any dead or crossing branches in late winter; plant in moist, well-drained soil in a protected, partially shaded spot to shield its fragile leaves from intense sun and wind.
