Small pink blooms appear on dwarf, self-fertile, evergreen bushes in September, followed by delicious red berries with a delightfully crisp flavour. These delectable fruits, like cranberries, can be used in jams, sauces, and pies. Lingonberry ‘Ida’ is the ideal patio plant for the forgetful gardener because of its exceptional hardiness, pest and disease resistance, and drought tolerance. They are perfect for containers, or use them to create a dense carpet for weed control in borders. Height: 20cm (8″). Spread: 30cm (12″).
Growing Information
Lingonberry plants require a well drained, acid soil in a sunny or semi shaded position. When growing lingonberry plants in areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, try planting them in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3.
