Growing Information

An evergreen shrub or tree suitable for container or ground growing. The dark and evergreen foliage can be pruned into formal shapes and give a timeless and contemporary feel to any house and garden.Remove the plant from the packaging and water if the compost is dry.You may want to pot up your plant into a larger pot or you can grow it on for a little while in the pot it has arrived in. Use a John Innes No 3 potting compost.Re-pot bay every two years in spring. Tease out some of the roots and trim off excess roots if planting it in the same sized container. Re-plant in fresh compost.Grow the plants in a warm, sunny position that is sheltered from cold, drying winds which can damage the foliage. In colder areas where the temperatures fall below -5ºC (23ºF), over winter in a greenhouse or conservatory.Once or twice during the summer months trim the plant to shape.Keep well watered during the summer months but keep pots on feet so that any excess water can drain away freely. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks from mid spring to late summer. Reduce watering in the winter and don’t let the compost become soggy or waterlogged.
