It can be argued that no garden is complete without the presence of a Honeysuckle and this small compact beauty certainly qualifies for a spot in your growing space. Reaching a height and spread of half a metre this plant is perfect for the smaller sized garden . However, its size is not an indication of its toughness as this Lonicera is fully hardy and is happy in both sun and partial shade.
Its real merit though comes in the form of the stunning cream and yellow flowers that appear all summer long, to top this off they are highly scented and profuse, making them perfect for pollinators. Its mid-green leaves set these flowers off beautifully and are semi-evergreen so may hang around for the winter depending on temperatures.
Give a good mix of compost when planting and throw in a few pellets of slow release fertiliser. Cut out old flowering shoots from time to time. This great little plant can sit in a container on a patio to provide all summer interest or can even edge a border or boundary.
