Rhubarbs are the perfect pudding fruit, providing an invaluable crop at the leanest time of the year. We’ve brought together two new varieties which ensure you can get a good sucession of varieties for a bountiful crop throughout the rhubarb season. These young plants will quickly mature, resulting in crowns big enough to harvest from 2 years after planting.
Collection comprises of:
Rhubarb ‘Sanvitos® Early’ – This early rhubarb produces a bountiful supply of tall, bright strawberry red stalks.
Rhubarb ‘Sanvitos® Summer’ – Strong, vigorous plants produce flushes of vivid red stems with a well balanced acidity.
Estimated time to cropping once planted: 16-20 months.
Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months.
Growing Information
Plant rhubarb from autumn to spring in a sunny position in well drained soil. Prepare the soil in advance by digging in plenty of well rotted manure and clearing all weeds. When planting rhubarb crowns, set them so that the top of the crown sits 3cm (1″) below soil level and allow a spacing of 75cm (30″) between plants. Alternatively plant them in large containers of soil based compost such as John Innes No 3. mixed with plenty of rotted manure.
