A shorter variety of Verbena bonariensis, Verbena ‘Buenos Aires’ is more manageable than its predecessor but features the same long-lasting clusters of rich purple flowers on long, rigid stalks. Its see-through habit makes it perfect for dotting throughout the border from front to back. Alternatively, plant several in one group for an airy cloud of nectar-rich flowers that will hum with bees and butterflies all summer long. Height: 100cm (39in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
Growing Information
Pot up Verbena bonariensis plants and grow them on in frost free conditions, for transplanting into borders later on. When all risk of frost has passed and plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant outdoors in a sheltered position in any moist, well drained soil in full sun.
