Description
The Prunus litigiosa is a uniquely beautiful variety of the flowering cherry trees. This tree has an upright habit and a somewhat conical shape, clusters of drooping pink-white flowers cover the tree in April. The juxtaposition of the upward growing branches and downward facing flowers creates a very distinctive tree. The anthers of the flowers are also unusual as they protrude beyond the petals, thus resembling tassels; this has given the tree the common name of ‘Tassel Cherry’.
