Tell Me More…
We think it is more than a coincidence Anemone rupicola ‘Wild Swan’ shares its name with the famous Hans Christian Anderson tale The Wild Swans. This fairy tale bloom is a woodland beauty, admired for its nodding, single blooms which are held high above attractive, maple-like foliage from May until the first frosts around October time. Surrounding a bright yellow centre, each petal is pure white on the face with a strong and showy blue banding on the reverse – giving both buds and flowers a magical, bluish tinge. Loved by bees and butterflies, who will visit to investigate the nectar and pollen rich blooms. Anemone rupicola ‘Wild Swan’ is a well behaved relative of the Japanese anemone. Terrific for borders and containers, plants will cope with most soils but are happiest in loam based ones. Plants prefer partial shade – although they will tolerate full sun providing the soil remains moist. Growing to a height of 45-60cm and spreading to around 45cm, this is a hardy (H6) perennial w
