Ligustrum ‘vulgare ‘Liga’ is a vigorous variety that thrives in a variety of conditions and has the best wind tolerance on exposed sites. This semi-evergreen Ligustrum is more commonly known as Privet. It can be easily pruned to shape and is often seeded as a neatly clipped hedge.Small leaves encircle its spreading branches, allowing it to retain much of its foliage even in winter. Pollinating insects love the nectar-rich summer flowers, which are followed by glossy black berries that attract hungry birds in autumn. It makes a valuable barrier shrub or stand-alone specimen and can be easily seeded as a neatly clipped hedge. Height and spread: 200cm (78″).
Growing Information
Grow Privet in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay, and areas of pollution.
