A broad plant with wide sword shaped leaves, this makes a magnificent feature plant for a large, sunny, garden. The arcitecural form of Phormium texax will provide structure and act as a foil for flowering plants. It copes particularly well with wind and coastal sites.
This versatile and very attractive plant can look stunning in a modern galvanised planter surrounded by a group of other phormiums, or perhaps as a statement piece in a garden bed. A versatile evergreen plant that will tolerate a range of conditions and look at home in a variety of different planting schemes.
Phormium texax is a large, robust species, with thick, dark green leaves with blue-green undersides. In hot summers, towering flower spikes may appear – the twisted seedheads can be quite attractive too and add an extra dimension to the winter garden when they become coated in frost. Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.
