The Red Leafed Rose is an excellent choice for adding colour to any form of hedging, whether it’s a security fence or any other type of hedging. It’s a robust and easy-to-grow plant that wildlife will appreciate for its hips in the autumn, and you will appreciate its organic splendour while making a good border. Rosa glauca R. Rubrifolia may stand alone and develop a dense thicket of thorns, purple/grey foliage, and pink flowers, but it will also crawl through other hedging plants to increase density. Supplied as 50-80cm bareroots (20-31″) Height: 250cm (98′). Spread: 250cm (98′). Planting Distance: 50cm (20″). (3 plants per metre for a single line hedge).
Growing Information
Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
