Product Description

Also known as the Star of Persia or Persian onion, Allium Christophii is a sophisticated Allium that produces spherical heads made up of silvery lilac star shaped-flowers. The gigantic globes grow on a stocky 30-40cm stem above beautiful curled green foliage. They are ideal for the back of the border due to their size or can alternatively be planted in pots and containers. The leaves will wither before the flowers appear in early summer, so we recommend accompanying them with low-growing plants to provide filling foliage over the base. Flowers June-July. Height 50cm. 10-12cm bulbs supplied.

Growing at a glance…

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil at approx 10cm apart and at a depth of roughly 3-4 times the size of the bulb. Larger bulbs should be spaced 20cm apart. Leave untouched for a number of years until the bulbs have multiplied and divide if necessary. Smaller alliums can be grown in containers, but ensure it’s large enough to space the bulbs an appropriate distance apart.
