Sowing Indoors
Fill a 9cm (3.5in) pot with compost firming lightly with the base of another pot. Water well. Scatter 10 seeds over the surface and cover with about 1/2cm (1/4in) of compost. Cover pot with cling film and keep warm (10-15 degrees Celsuis). Remove cling film as soon as seedlings emerge.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position but shade from direct sunlight. Water compost when it feels dry to touch.
Growing Outside
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks and then plant out from May to August. Allow 30cm (12in) between each group of plants.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow seeds thinly in rows, lightly covering with soil. Allow about 30cm (12in) between rows. Gradually thin seedlings until they are about 15cm (6in) apart and keep soil moist until established.
