Sowing Indoors
Level fill a module tray with seed compost firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually covering seeds with 1cm (1/2in) compost. Place in a propagator at 15-20 degrees Celsuis (60-70 Fahrenheit) or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room. Keep moist.
Growing On
When shoots appear, remove cling film. Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. Grow on in a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsuis (50 Fahrenheit). Gradually accustom plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.
Planting Out
When seedlings have produced 4 leaves, transplant them to their cropping position leaving 30cm (12in) between plants and 45cm (18in) between rows. Firm in and keep well watered in dry spells.
