Tell Me More…
With its swirly, curly palmate foliage in contrasting shades of green, purple and black this tiarella will bring some theatrical impact to shady spaces from March through to November time. From May through to July the delicate looking spires of ivory flowers really do make the ‘icing on the cake’, with powder puff blooms, like twinkly stars, which can be cut for a vase or left to lend their misty magic above the glorious colours beneath. A newcomer for 2025, Tiarella ‘Emerald Ellie’ will not only attract a host of pollinators to your garden – there will be plenty of admiring glances from visitors too. Plants reach a height and spread of 40cm – perfect for a container as well as the edge of woodland or an herbaceous border. Tiarella originate from the woodlands of Asia and Northern America, so bear this in mind when choosing a spot to plant them. A fantastically easy going variety of weed-suppressing groundcover which will readily naturalise and spread. Tiarella ‘Emerald Ellie’ prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in partial sun to full shade.
