Tell Me More…
Lupinus Magic Lantern is a vigorous and verdant, clump forming perennial which retains its foliage from March to October each year. Leaves are palmate in form and create gap-filling interest on their own when planted in borders or open ground. From June through to July spires of pea-like blooms are produced in contrasting purple and yellow – with the yellow petals shining through like the glow from a fire or torch – hence the name. From the UK’s premier lupin breeder, West Country Lupins, the quality and quantity of these wonderful flowers really does shine through and is directly representative of the breeder’s years of knowledge and expertise. As a hardy, herbaceous perennial, Lupinus Magic Lantern will die back over winter and return afresh the following spring. Plants are able to withstand temperatures down to -10 C without the need for additional winter protection, hence they are a much-loved cottage garden favourite which is now seen in city and modern planting schemes too.
