Description
- An attractive yellow dessert pear, often flushed with orange or russet. Onward has the sweetness of Doyenne du Comice but is easier to grow in the UK
- High quality fruits, best eaten fresh but good for poaching too
- A strong, reliable cropper
- Awarded RHS Award of Garden Merit and Plants for Pollinators status
- A mid season variety – harvest from mid September and pick when still firm, to ripen in a bowl (they do not fully ripen on the tree)
- Attractive blossom in spring with good frost resistance
- Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming “leggy”, and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE
