Tell Me More…
Offering up to nine months of fabulous jungle foliage commencing in March and lasting to November time. The vibrant shades of green, gold and yellow from Canna ‘Tropicanna Gold’ are second to none if you are seeking larger, brighter and lighter foliage. If that’s not enough, from June to September, large, iris-like flowers are produced in multiples on strong stems – offering golden orange which petals will flutter like miniature flags in borders, gravel gardens and containers. Flowers are then proceeded by plump, intriguing seedpods which resemble shotgun pellets – hence the common name. Canna ‘Tropicanna Gold’ prefers moist, well-drained soil of any kind and a position in full sun for the best foliage and flowers. A tender, herbaceous perennial which need lifting or transporting to a heated greenhouse/conservatory when temperatures drop below 5°C. All you need then do is cut back top growth and keep rhizomes relatively dry over winter, ready to reinvigorate the following spring.
