Description
- If you’re looking for a showy bamboo variety, then look no further. ‘Spectabilis’ is a yellow-caned bamboo, whose deep green grooves and pink colour in immaturity come together to create a truly special plant.
- A larger variety, growing to an ultimate height of six metres, this plant is perfect for creating a privacy screen or hedge. You can, however, also prune your bamboo to fit a smaller space.
- One of the most interesting features of this plant is that it sometimes zigs and zags as it grows! Other times, the culms remain straight and upright, spreading only slightly with time.
- The stems are complemented by appealing green leaves, lanceolate in shape, typically reaching roughly 15cm in length.
- A deserving recipient of the RHS’s Award of Garden Merit, this variety has been shown to perform well in British gardens.
