Tell Me More…
Kniphofia ‘Poco Red’ is one of the shortest in the ‘red-hot poker’ family. Still retaining all the marvellous attributes of its larger cousins, it has a few new ones as well.Kniphofia ‘Poco Red’ may be short, but don’t be fooled. Huge, sumptuously bright flowerheads are formed by coral-red tubular flowers. Blooming much longer than other Kniphofia, you will have colour from June to the first frosts. The upright clump of grass-like, deer-resistant foliage sways gently in the breeze and stays erect without flopping.Florists will delight to see the abundance of blooms, which add a long-lasting zip of bright colour to floral arrangements.Kniphofia ‘Poco Red’ is not fussy on soil conditions in a sunny or a partially shaded spot where it will grow to around 50cm tall, spreading to between 30-40cm. Hardy to around -10 C, RHS rating H4, extra winter protection should not be required across most of the UK.
