Tell Me More…
Parasols of tiny blooms, held in clusters, will add delight and drama to your summer and autumn garden. Ammi visnaga blooms from June to September above feathery foliage which is held from March to October time. Ideally suited to a prairie or wildlife gardens as well as traditional borders and containers. These strong and robust flowers are a florist’s dream – much loved for wedding bouquets and able to last up to ten days in a vase. Also known as the ‘Toothpick Plant’, Ammi visnaga frequently appears in RHS show gardens and follows the current trend of bringing back native wildflowers into designed and planted spaces – this beauty is certainly fit for any Royal Garden and draws in beneficial, pollinating insects too. Prefers moist, well-drained soil of any type which benefits from full sun or partial shade. This hardy annual reaches a height of up to 1m, with a spread of 50cm. The seed produced by spent flowers is loved by goldfinches and a fantastic way to attract these birds into your garden. Remember, though, to save some for sowing next year!
