The Petunia ‘Alenka’ F1 is a true classic with beautiful vintage coloring. Masses of 5-6 cm baby pink blooms with sunshine yellow centers create a lovely display all summer and autumn until the first frosts. The plants are compact and well-branched, making them ideal for baskets and containers. 35 cm in height and 14 in spread.
Growing Information
When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed, 30cm (12in) apart, or plant into containers. For best results, provide a light, well-drained soil in full sun.
Sowing Information
Sow February to April. Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Lightly cover the seed with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a temperature of between 21-25C (70-75F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 10-21 days.
