More productive than regular spinach, this is a versatile salad must-have, perfect as baby leaves or as a mature vegetable. The attractive red leaves have a mild mustard tang and they are highly nutritious and full of iron.
Growing Information
Sow thinly direct into finely raked, warm, moist soil at a depth of 1.3cm (½”) in rows 30cm (12″) apart. Germination 6-10 days. Thin seedlings to 2.5cm (1″) for picking as baby leaf, or 25cm (10″) for growing to full maturity. Not recommended for transplanting. Grows best in a sunny position in rich, well- prepared soil. Water freely during spells of dry weather. Sow every three weeks for constant crops. Can be sown through winter in a tunnel or greenhouse. Sowing – Cropping: 30 days for babyleaf.
