Dark Green Ilex crenata (small leaved holly) is a box substitute that is resistant to pest and disease problems that some times strike traditional topiary cultivars. It is an evergreen with green glossy leaves very similar to box.
Compact in nature, this small, deep green leaved variety of ilex crenata is perfect as an alternative to the well known Buxus for topiary forms. Plant directly in the garden or use in planters, just never allow it to dry out. Supplied with a 20-25cm diametre, the quality of these is superb.
