Bean (Broad) Plants – The Sutton

The Sutton is a wonderful dwarf broad bean variety. Ideal for exposed sites, this vegetable plant will produce very large numbers of pods. Each pod contains four or five beans of superior quality. (White seeded). This RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, The Sutton is one of the first beans to be planted in the growing year – and it’s a great one to get your vegetable patch started. The ideal addition to vegetable beds and borders.
Growing Information
Grow beans in full sun on rich fertile, well manured soil with protection from strong winds. Plant broad beans in double rows set 23cm (9”) apart and allowing at least 60cm (24”) between each double row. Sow broad beans at a depth of 5cm (2”) deep and a distance of 23cm (9”) apart within each row and water well. Germination usually takes around 10 days.
