Vigorous and versatile, Houttuynia cordata ‘Flame’ is a fascinating perennial that thrives almost anywhere – dry or wet, sun or shade. Drought tolerant, the variegated, bright coloured foliage holds strong in colour and structure. Leaves remain the mix of green, yellow and red throughout the seasons, while short spiky blooms in white join the party in summer. Growing Information
This hardy perennial is both moisture and drought tolerant, and thrives in almost any position from sun to dappled shade. Plant Houttuynia in any garden soil, or in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a depth of 10cm (4″) below water level. In favourable conditions, Houttuynia will spread freely, but can be easily contained if planted in containers.
