This mid-season peony received an RHS Award of Garden Merit and also won Best in Show at Chelsea. Peony ‘Jan van Leeuwen’ is a timeless classic that dates back to 1928. White outer petals form finely cut bowls that encase golden petaloids. The aromatic blooms of this white peony appear from late spring to early summer. These shimmer against a contrasting background of vivid green, divided foliage. Height: 60cm (24). 75cm spread (30).
Growing Information
Bare roots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Grow peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position on fertile, moist, well drained soil. Peony plants prefer a heavy soil that is rich in organic matter. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting. Plant herbaceous peonies so that the top of the crown is just 5cm (2”) below the soil surface, taking care not to plant too deeply as this may prevent or delay peonies from flowering.
