This vibrant Bluebell Creeper is a stunning evergreen climber that blooms from June until October. It produces clusters of indigo blue flowers that cloak its fresh green, slender leaflets. ‘Ultra Blue’ thrives in full sun and would make a showy addition to patio areas, conservatories, walls and fences. Its deciduous growing habit makes this half-hardy shrub a lover of scrambling, it works well along trellis, obelisks and pergolas – its attractive, twirling stems attract lots of attention and create a fabulous display in any corner of the garden. This Sollya will grow in height to 2m, along with a spread of 60cm.

Growing Information

The Bluebell Creeper is half hardy and requires a minimum temperature of -5°C (23°F), so it is best grown over an obelisk in a patio container that can be moved indoors for the winter. Alternatively grow it in a warm conservatory or heated greenhouse. Pot up Sollya plants into containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.

In very mild areas, try growing Sollya heterophylla outdoors where it looks superb twining through shrubs or against sheltered walls and fences. Plant in rich fertile, well drained soil in a sheltered position in sun or semi-shade.
