Growing Information
Sow in a seedbed outdoors March-May and later transplant to their final positions. Alternatively sow January-February under glass. Snowball A and All The Year Round may be sown late September-October for wintering in cold frames to plant out in spring. (20-26 weeks maturity).
Sowing Information
Sow direct into a seedbed, 1cm ( 1?2″) deep, 30cm (12″) between rows. Transfer to final growing positions approx. 5 weeks from sowing.
Alternatively, sow indoors at a depth of 1cm ( 1?2″) in trays of seed compost and cover lightly with vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 15-20°C (59°-68°F) until after germination, usually 4 -15 days. Transfer seedlings into 7.5cm (3″) pots and grow on. Acclimatise before planting out, leaving 50cm (20″) each way.
Grows best in soil prepared in early spring. Apply lime to acid soils to reduce the risk of clubroot.
