Ornate stems of decorative steel-blue cones surrounded by a collar of prickly, silvery grey bracts appear throughout summer above heart-shaped foliage. This rosette-forming perennial with spiny stems is short-lived but freely seeds itself in the garden. A great plant for a sunny, well-drained border and looks particularly fetching if planted in gravel. Supplied in 2-3 litre containers.
