Slender stems topped with sweetly-scented purple or white flowers. Very attractive to pollinating insects. An easy-to-grow cottage garden favourite that will self-seed once established. Height 60cm (24″). HB – Hardy biennial.

Sow March-April under glass, or May-June outdoors, flowers June-July (year 2).

Sow at 15-20°C (60-68°F) on a good quality compost, cover the seed lightly with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a polythene bag or propagator and keep the soil moist at all times. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transfer and grow on in cooler conditions. When the risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days begore planting out 30cm (12″) apart. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in May/June 15-30cm (6-12″) apart and thin as necessary.
