Rhododendron ‘Gold Topas’ is an elegant, deciduous azalea with fragrant, star-shaped golden flowers that bloom in late spring. Ideal for shaded, acid soil borders, it adds vibrant colour and interest to the garden. In autumn, its foliage transforms into a stunning display of red and copper hues, creating a dazzling seasonal contrast. It’s low-maintenance, though it benefits from light pruning after flowering to keep its shape. ‘Gold Topas’ can be used in a variety of garden settings, including accent planting, mixed borders, or as a container plant. This azalea adds a bright, cheerful pop of colour to any garden.

Rhododendron ‘Gold Topas’ is toxic to pets (including dogs and cats) and humans if ingested.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Growing Information

Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
