Tell Me More…
Sure to be a star at the Chelsea Flower Show 2023, when innovator Raymond Evison will be showing off Clematis ‘Tumaini’ for the first time. You can be one of the first to grow this new, amazing, deciduous climber, as it clambers up a frame, or through small trees or shrubs. Whether in a large container or in the ground in well-drained soil, the large, mauve-purple blooms with purple striped petals are produced from May-June and again in September, drawing pollinators closer for a nectar-rich titbit.A group 2 clematis, a slight prune in late winter or early spring will encourage strong growth and flowering and prevent it from becoming a tangle of stems.Preferring a sunny or partially shaded spot, Clematis ‘Tumaini’ will reach a mature height of around 1.8m, spreading to 1.2m. Given an RHS hardiness rating of H6, it so should not require any frost protection over winter.
