Tell Me More…
Brugmansia are a family of tropical South American beauties which will, literally, stop you in your tracks with their amplified trumpet shaped blooms. They are sure to delight you, your friends and your neighbours with their spectacular summer performance. Brugmansia sanguinea ‘Red-Yellow’ has huge blooms up to 30cm long which erupt from fascinating buds for a sensational and exotic looking display that aptly suits the common name of Angel’s Trumpets. Vigorous and fast growing, these unusual plants are perfect for a large pot as this makes moving them to a sheltered, protected area over winter much simpler. Plants can, however, be sited in the border and then lifted too, reaching a height of 3.5m with a spread of 2.4m when mature. Prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil of any kind except clay in sun or partial shade. A warm temperate shrub which will need to be kept frost free over winter. Brugmansia sanguinea ‘Red-Yellow’ will also grow happily indoors as a houseplant and can be pruned back to restrict size.
