Tell Me More…
Calamintha nepeta produces loose clusters of small, tubular, lilac flowers from summer into autumn over clumps of attractive, downy, grey foliage. A highly scented herb for floral and culinary lovers. Commonly known as Calamint, the neat, bushy mounds of minty-oregano scented, green foliage has long been used medicinally for a wide range of ailments. Perfect planted near the kitchen for use in marinades to flavour meats, or dry the leaves to be infused for a refreshingly aromatic tea. Much loved by bees and butterflies, Calamitha is deer and rabbit resistant. Happy in both borders and containers, Calamintha is very drought tolerant, preferring well-drained soil in sun. Growing to a height of approximately 45cm and spreading to around 75cm, the dense foliage is great as a weed suppressing groundcover and is fully hardy so can be left outside during winter for years to come
