Tell Me More…
Eleagnus ebbingei Compact forms a neater and more compact shape than its close relative Eleagnus ebbingei and is best when cut to an eventual height of around 2m, perfect for attractive evergreen hedging or screening. The leaves are tough, and, as the name almost suggests – elegant! Oval shaped, pointed at tips and a deep green colour which looks as though it has been sprayed silver. The underside of the leaves is completely white and Eleagnus are often used as attractive and long-lasting foliage in floristry.Small, highly fragranced creamy-white flowers appear in autumn filling the air with their delightful scent. Eleagnus ebbingei Compact grows well in virtually any position and in all soil types. Eleagnus are rapidly growing plants, growing up to 50cm each year until maturity. Prune to promote fresh growth and maintain the size and shape of these bushy, hardy shrubs. Occasionally a harsh winter may cause some foliage loss, but fresh growth soon follows in spring.
