Tell Me More…
West Country Lupin Masterpiece, created after many years of breeding is a work of art. A much-awaited new variety in shades of seductive dark purple with an orange fleck. Sure to make a statement in any garden border or pot throughout summer, each spire on giant-bloomed West Country Lupins is densely packed with pea-like blooms to form large flowerheads up to 15cm (6′) wide, much loved by pollinators. Several flowerheads will be produced in the first year, above lush, easily recognisable and attractive palmate foliage. The stems make beautiful cut flowers for your home.Deer and rabbit resistant, the name Lupin derives from the Latin ‘lupines’ meaning wolf as the ‘peas’ that appear after flowering were said to be fit only for the consumption of wolves. Like most members of the family, Lupin Masterpiece is very tolerant of poor soils and will actually add fertiliser back into the ground. Preferring to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade Lupin Masterpiece is a fully hardy perennial that will flourish outside, dying back over winter to sprout again the following spring.
