Jumbo Crocus (C. vernus) – Larger than the botanical crocuses, “Jumbos” make a splash of early spring colour. Plant in your lawn, between shrubs, in borders, or in patio containers. They bloom a few weeks after the botanical crocuses – mixing both will create a long-flowering carpet of colour! Flowers February-March. Height 10cm. Orange Monarch – Large-flowered Dutch type, producing big, orange blooms feathered with a purple flame. Bulb size 5+cm.

Crocuses are among the first heralds of spring. Their cups of vivid colours make such a welcome splash of colour that you’ll just want to keep planting more and more. A magnet for bees in early spring!

Growing Information

Grow crocus in any well drained garden soil in sun or semi shade. Spring flowering crocus bulbs should be planted during the autumn, in large clumps at a depth of 10cm (4″) and at a distance of 7cm (3″) apart. Alternatively grow them in containers or naturalised in grass.
