Stachys byzantina ‘Big Ears’ produces larger leaves and taller flower spikes than other varieties. The evergreen foliage is slightly greener than smaller Stachys, but still has the same delightful, velvety surface. Chunky, sturdy, stems bear fluffy clusters of small pink blooms which are a magnet for pollinating insects. Stachys byzantina ‘Big Ears’ tolerates heat and drought, making it a great addition to dry, sunny borders where it will provide handy weed-suppressing ground cover, that will spread using its creeping, rooting stems.
