Dianthus Scent First ‘Coconut Sundae’ is an award-winning member of a range noted for its particularly wonderful scent. Forming compact cushions of slender, grey-green leaves, this pretty little plant bears white, double flowers with a striking deep red eye. These appear continually from May through until August, though have been known to start earlier in a mild spring. The Scent First Series is perfect for adding summer-long fragrance and colour to containers, the edge of a path or the front of a border. The flowers are also excellent for cutting, boasting an impressive vase life. As well as allowing their beauty and scent to be brought indoors, this has the added benefit of encouraging prolonged flowering on the plant. Dianthus Scent First ‘Coconut Sundae’ is a hard-working, reliable evergreen perennial, happy in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil, meaning heavy clay is best avoided. Position in full sun in any aspect other than north-facing. A hardy (H6) evergreen perennial which is able to withstand temperatures of -15°C to -20°C providing its roots are not excessively wet during winter. Matures to a height and spread of 30cm.
