Tell Me More…
A new variety of a long-established garden favourite with all the colour and pattern of its taller cousins bred into a compact variety which reaches 30cm in height and spread. Alstroemeria Pitchoune ‘Lily Rose’ is perfect for those of us with a sunny balcony or patio which will benefit from these alluring and beautifully marked pink, red and cream flowers. Blooms emerge in June and last through to October time. They are held on strong stems, perfect for a vase, and accented by the lush green foliage which surrounds them. A handy tip for using them as cut flowers is to remove flowers by pulling the stems gently from the bottom of the plant. The resulting ‘wound’ initiates the formation of new flowers for even more longevity. Alstroemeria Pitchoune ‘Lily Rose’ prefers a site with moist, well-drained soil of any kind. Unfussy on aspect, plant in full sun or partial shade. A half-hardy, herbaceous perennial, plants will need a protective mulch over winter in areas where temperatures fall below freezing.
