Tell Me More…
A smaller variety of this exotic looking and wonderfully fragrant climber. Jasminum ‘Beesianum’ has semi-evergreen, simple shaped foliage and vigorous, scrambling stems. Plants mature to a maximum height of 6 metres, with a spread of 3 metres, and are ideal for planting in a container or open ground in a smaller garden – particularly near a seat or house window to make the most of the evocative jasmine perfume when in flower during June and July. Outside of these times the pretty leaves provide excellent screening too. Flowers are borne ‘en masse’ and have a rich red-pink hue. Each bloom of Jasminum ‘Beesianum’ has a golden yellow stamen to the centre and flowers offer a feast for pollinators, particularly bees which form part of this plant’s name. Native to China where it grows in wooded areas, fragrance is less intense than some of its cousins. Plant in moist, well-drained, humus rich soil of any kind. Position in full sun or partial shade with a south or west facing aspect.
