Primula denticulata ‘Ruby’, also sold under the common name Ruby Drumstick Primula, is a jewel in the garden at this time of year, with its rich, ruby-red spherical clusters of flowers. These vibrant blooms sit atop sturdy stems, rising above rosettes of lush, green foliage from early to mid-spring. It is a very useful garden plant for gardeners with an all-season garden, as the plants flower in the garden when few other plants will be in full bloom, hence making it add colour to the garden. Thriving best in well-drained, humus-rich soil, Ruby is suited to moist, shady spots and works well underplanting deciduous trees, woodland gardens, or at the edge of water features.
