Growing Information

This 12cm plant is ideal for window sill growing but can also be grown in a greenhouse, polytunnel, or grown outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun.

For windowsill growing – it will crop reliably if kept in its original pot and fed and watered regularly but potting up will increase your crop. Feed and water pepper plants regularly throughout the growing season to prevent the flower buds from dropping. To ensure pollination tickle each flower with a soft paintbrush.

When growing chilli peppers outdoors, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days prior to transplanting them into a sunny, sheltered position in well drained soil. Space pepper plants at a distance of 50cm (20″) apart.

Outdoors, provide a thick mulch of organic matter around the base of the plants to help conserve moisture and reduce weed growth. In greenhouses, maintain high humidity by damping down paths daily.

Harvest peppers singly by cutting them from the plant by with secateurs or pull the entire plant when full of red peppers, and hang upside down in the kitchen for use all year long. Peppers grown outdoors must be harvested before the first frosts.
