Rhododendron ‘Gumpo White’ blooms with big, white blossoms from April through May, which contrast attractively with the dark evergreen leaves. Once established, this exquisite evergreen Azalea is low-maintenance and undemanding. It is a low-growing, spreading cultivar that can be used as a focal point in a rockery or mass-planted at the edge of acid forests. Height: 60cm (24″). Spread: 120cm (48″).
Growing Information
Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
